On July 3, news from the China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd. reported that in the first half of 2024, a total of 2,899 China-Europe freight trains passed through the "Eastern Corridor" via the Manzhouli, Suifenhe, and Tongjiang railway ports, transporting 304,000 TEUs, an increase of 5.1% and 3.4% year-on-year, respectively. This marks a historical high for the same period and demonstrates stable growth.

Since the beginning of this year, the China-Europe freight trains have shown a steady growth trend. In the first five months, the "Eastern Corridor" accounted for 31% of the total China-Europe freight trains, with return trains accounting for 42.4% of the national total, ranking first in the country. Harbin Railway has continuously strengthened the role of trunk lines and port channels, enhanced coordination and cooperation with domestic port supervision departments and overseas railways, and comprehensively improved port operation efficiency and train handover capabilities. This year, the Suifenhe to border section of the Bin-Sui Railway and the Jiamusi to Tongjiang Railway reconstruction projects have started construction, which will further enhance the capacity of the railway port's hinterland channels.

The Tongjiang railway port has been operating China-Europe freight trains for nearly a year, with an average monthly traffic increase of 176% compared to last year. The Suifenhe railway port saw 94 China-Europe freight trains pass through in January, a year-on-year increase of 28.8%, setting a historical high for the same period. Currently, the "Eastern Corridor" of China-Europe freight trains reaches 14 European countries, connects more than 60 domestic cities, and has 26 routes. The transported products cover 12 major categories, including electrical products, daily necessities, industrial machinery, and agricultural by-products.

In addition, Harbin Railway has actively promoted the quality of China-Europe freight train operations in Heilongjiang Province. This year, for the first time, a special China-Europe freight train for commercial vehicles was launched, opening a new route from Heilongjiang to the Netherlands. In the first half of this year, Heilongjiang Province operated 91 China-Europe freight trains with 9,132 TEUs, an increase of 116.7% and 99.4% year-on-year, respectively, achieving significant growth.
